Walking Cinema: Museum of the Hidden City is a temporary museum located in San Francisco dedicated to showcasing 80 years of housing history in one of the nation's most picturesque yet tumultuous housing markets. At the core of this museum are five smartphone-led walking tours that seamlessly blend audio narration, maps, GPS technology, and augmented reality to transport visitors into the pivotal narratives of San Francisco's housing evolution. Along the touring route, visitors will encounter artifacts emblematic of these historical tales, thoughtfully exhibited within local shops and community venues.

The immersive nature of the Museum is optimized for an in-person visit; however, if you are unable to venture to San Francisco, the content can be equally savored from the comfort of your home.

Presently, the application features the inaugural chapter of the series – "The Fillmore: Total Planning." This segment delves into one of the most significant urban renewal undertakings in American history. Initially envisioned to alleviate economic and racial disparities, the project aimed to enhance the city's business landscape and serve as a beacon illustrating San Francisco's utopian ideals. Paradoxically, its repercussions unfolded quite contrarily. Voices from a preacher's daughter and an architect who actively participated in this transformation paint a vivid narrative, encapsulating their enduring struggles with its aftermath.
